Assessments
Know where you stand before you spend.
Every engagement starts with clarity. Our complimentary assessments put credentialed, cannabis-specialist eyes on your books, your filings, or your finance function, and give you a written roadmap you keep, whether or not you engage us for the work.
When do you need this?
As a licensed operator grows, the finance work grows faster than the team. Bookkeeping turns into month-end close, close turns into reporting, and reporting turns into decisions that need a CFO’s judgment — all while §280E makes every allocation matter more than it would in any other industry. The chart shows how the monthly investment in each finance function typically scales with revenue, using the same pricing as our estimator. Toggle a service to isolate it.
| Annual revenue | Bookkeeping | Outsourced Accounting | Fractional CFO | All three |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| <500k | $625 per month | $750 per month | $2,100 per month | $3,475 per month |
| 500K-1M | $675 per month | $750 per month | $2,100 per month | $3,525 per month |
| 1M-5M | $775 per month | $750 per month | $2,100 per month | $3,625 per month |
| 5M-25M | $1,125 per month | $750 per month | $2,100 per month | $3,975 per month |
| 25M+ | $1,375 per month | $750 per month | $2,100 per month | $4,225 per month |
Our 3-step process.
01
Assessment
Pick the assessment that matches where it hurts. We review your actual records and systems — not a questionnaire summary of them.
02
Strategy Session
We walk you through findings on a live call: what’s solid, what’s exposed, and what it costs to fix — in writing.
03
Engagement
If the roadmap makes the case, we scope the ongoing work and put it in a signed agreement. If not, the roadmap is yours either way.

Rightsourcing lowers cost and improves outcomes.
Hiring the full finance stack in-house is the most expensive way to get it — and most operators don’t need full-time hours at every level. The chart compares typical U.S. salary ranges for in-house finance roles against the annual cost of the equivalent Green Collar CFO engagement at our published rates. Salary ranges are typical market figures, before benefits and overhead; your market may vary.
| Role | In-house (typical salary range) | Green Collar CFO (annual, published rates) | Green Collar CFO basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bookkeeper | $45,000 to $60,000 | $9,300 | $775 per month · Bookkeeping · $1M – $2.5M |
| Accounting Manager | $80,000 to $110,000 | $9,000 | $750 per month · Outsourced Accounting |
| Controller | $110,000 to $160,000 | $18,300 | $1,525 per month · Outsourced Accounting + Bookkeeping |
| CFO | $180,000 to $300,000 | $25,200 | $2,100 per month · Fractional CFO · 3 services |
Without an assessment
- Scope gets guessed, then re-negotiated
- Cleanup surfaces mid-engagement, priced under pressure
- §280E allocations inherited, not examined
- The first months are spent discovering instead of executing
With a Green Collar CFO assessment
- Scope priced from evidence, in writing, before anything is billed
- Cleanup found first and quoted once
- Allocations examined by a credentialed EA before they harden into filings
- Engagement starts executing a roadmap you’ve already read
Assessment FAQs.
Nothing. The consultation and the assessment are complimentary, and the roadmap is yours to keep whether or not you engage us. Scope and price for any ongoing work are set in your engagement agreement, before anything is billed.
A written roadmap: findings, exposures, and a prioritized fix list with scope. It’s yours whether or not we do the work.
Most assessments complete within two to three weeks of receiving access to your records, with the strategy session scheduled at delivery.
Read access to the relevant records — books, returns, or systems depending on the assessment — plus your licenses and entity documents. We send an exact list at kickoff; no scavenger hunts.
No. An assessment is a diagnostic engagement, not an attestation, and it doesn’t produce an audit opinion. It tells you where you stand and what to fix.
Cannabis finance is the only thing we do. If you’re not a licensed operator or plant-adjacent business, we’re probably not the right fit — and we’ll tell you quickly.
